Future Walk Idea – Yuraygir Coastal Walk

Yuraygir Coastal Walk, done as a 10 day holiday with 9 days on the track.

This could be done solo (but the first day would require extra travel and supply drops at the caravan parks).

Drive: Home to Red Rock
BUS: Red Rock (4:30pm) to Grafton (5:25pm)
BUS: Grafton (5:50pm) to Yamba (7:10pm)
Yamba Caravan Park
$36 + $7 per extra child (over 5)
Calypso Caravan Park. Spoke to Karen. We will be fine to just turn up on the friday night (even without booking), but not Sat.
Sat 19th

Parkrun: Yamba (7am)
BUS: Yamba (9am) to Angourie (9:30am)
Angourie to Shelley Head
6km Undulating
Grade 2
Mostly track
Shelley Head campground
Remote Camp – NO WATER

Shelley Head to Lake Arragan 7km Flat
Grade 2
Mostly track
Lake Arragan/Red Cliff
2WD access, drinking water, BBQs, toilets.

Mon 21st

Lake Arragan to Brooms Head 5km Flat

Beach
Brooms Head Caravan Park

Brooms Head to Sandon 8km Flat

Sandon River Campground
2WD access, BBQs, toilets, NO WATER.

Wed 23rd
Day 6
 Sandon to Illaroo  10km Flat

Track and beach
Illaroo campground or Rocky Point Campground

**I believe the ‘fresh water’ is actually 2km south at the Minnie Water Road.

Day 7
 Illaroo to Boorkoom  7.5km Undulating
Grade 4
Track, beach, & rock platform
Boorkoom Campground
2WD access, BBQs, toilets, NO WATER.
$10 (adult), $5 (child*), $20 min site fee*
Pay attention to tidal times. Beach between Back Beach and Boorkoom is impassable at high tide.
Tides: H 4:38am L 10:21am (0.4m)H 5:09pm
Fri 25th
Day 8
 Boorkoom to Wooli  6.5km Flat
Grade 3
Track and beach
Wooli Caravan Park
$33 + $8 per extra person (over 5 years)
River Crossing $10 per head. 0439 409 909 (preferable on an incoming tide).
Sat 26th
Day 9
 Wooli to Station Creek  6.5km Undulating
Grade 4
Rock platform and track
Station Creek campground
2WD access, BBQs, toilets, NO WATER.
$10 (adult), $5 (child*), $20 min site fee*
This is the most strenuous section of the walk. It is vital to check the tides and conditions as this section is impassable in bad weather or at high tide. Note:If possible, Harriet might hitch a ride with Chrissy on this day.
Tides: H 6:24am L 12:21pm (0.2m) H 6:48pm
Station Creek camp….Elevated, trees, shaded, toilets, picnic tables & fireplaces, bring your own firewood & water, mosquitoes.
Pebbly Beach camp….Waves lapping at your door, flat & sandy, open area, toilets, bring your firewood + water, less mosquitoes.Tide tables needed.
Sun 27th
Day 10
 Station Creek to Red Rock  5.4km Flat
Grade 3
Beach
Red Rock Caravan Park
$23 + $10 per extra person (over 5)
River Crossing $10 per head. 0439 409 909
Note: We could drive straight home depending on when we reach the trackhead

*Children under 5 are free
*$20 minimium site fee during school holidays.
